About Barbados

Barbados is known for its political and social stability, factors that have made the island attractive for international business and its main foreign exchange earner, tourism. Barbados’ highly educated workforce, business-friendly environment and well-developed infrastructure have served as platforms on which its economy has grown. However, the island is still not fully recovered from the global recession of the late 2000s.

While high tariff rates may serve as impediments to importation, Barbados remains very dependent on the importation of many basic items, giving rise to a vibrant distribution sector.
